The hole does not line up when I try to put the height adjusting pin in.

This is caused by the black thick stopper underneath the deck of the platform sliding backwards. To fix this problem slide the black stopper forward so that it rests on the lip on the underside of the deck. If this black stopper keeps sliding back you can glue it in place.

My platform will not close flat.

If your platform is having trouble folding completely flat than your legs are probably touching so the platform will not close. This is because your center bolt is too loose. Tighten your center bolt and the platform should not have any trouble folding flat.

What is the last hole for in the height adjusting?

When you fold your platform down put the height adjusting pin in the last hole. This keeps the platform folded flat. This will also keep you from losing your height adjusting pin.

I am having trouble putting the height adjusting pin in or my industrial wheel kit is locked.

The Platform needs lubrication! We recommend using lemon Endust or WD-40 in the hole of the height adjusting pin. We try to lube up every platform that leaves our plant, but if one get out without being properly lubricated then it makes it difficult to put the pin in because it is metal rubbing on metal.

If your industrial wheel kit will not break and stays up when you step on the platform – LUBRICATE it! Sometimes a new wheel kit can stick a little but if you spray lemon Endust or WD-40 on the wheel kit it will work properly.

Who is using the SafeTec Platform?

We are so excited about how well our platforms have been received! It is exciting when people are open to new ideas on safety products. We cannot thank safety professionals enough for the development and growth of our work platform.

One of our crowning moments was at the state of Georgia’s safety show where the keynote speaker of the event gave a lecture on fall safety – ladders, scaffolding and that new work platform out of Kentucky. He not only said that we were the best alternative, he said that this is a safety product that does not sacrifice productivity for safety.

The businesses listed below purchased a SafeTec Platform. The people who watched the demo included safety professionals, management, and workers all whom fell in love with the SafeTec Platform.

GE, Pepsi, Ford, Northop Grummond, Disney Land, Boeing, Miller Brewing Company, Lockheed Martin, NASA, Google, Bell Helicopter, a Nascar team , Bill Dance Outdoors, TA Truck Stops nationwide, Sysco Foods, the Sands Casino, General Mills, Penske, U-Haul,

Our products are used by over 25 major universities. Some universities have a lightweight platform on top of every single maintenance vehicle.

The US military, US Coast Guard and many government agencies use our products.

The largest manufacturers of aircraft engines, automotives, truck trailers, fire trucks, war ships, helicopters and airplanes using our SafeTec platform. All these companies we did a demo for and did large presentations for safety crews and the departments that would be using the platform.

We are now in daily use at airports, municipalities, fire depts., amusement parks, zoos, nuclear and coal power plants and oil refineries.

How much weight are the handrails certified to hold?

Our handrails have a side pressure rating of 200lbs. Remember when you stand on the platform your weight goes down.  You can have multiple heavy guys lean on the handrail and the platform will not tip over and the handrail will not break.

Our handrails are strong enough that you can set the platform up to the highest setting and do a pull-up on the outside of the platform.

OSHA questions and concerns

The patented SafeTec Platform is a new product on the market that is unlike any other product currently available. It is difficult to classify because it is a hybrid of scaffolding, platforms, and a ladder.

We are currently classified as scaffolding. Currently the largest platform we make has a maximum height just under 6ft.

Depending on the industry fall protection generally begins at 10ft. We go above and beyond with our variety of handrails that come standard with our platforms. We even make handrails so you can be fully enclosed.

The use of toe boards is a common question. Toe Boards are generally used to keep items from falling and hitting people on the head. The need for toe boards generally begins at 10ft.

Someone walking up or down the platform will always have 3-points of contact between the deck, the stairs, the handrail, and even the built in hand hold.

SafeTec recommends using the platform with the handrail behind you and your work in front of you. This creates a cage around your work. People often forget that you need arm space to work. If you were to paint a wall you would not put your toes on the wall and begin work. In the same way, people often move the platform back off their work so they can comfortably walk on and off the platform and to be a comfortable working distance away from the job at hand.

We have heavy duty rubber feet on our platforms to provide safety as well as an aggressive tread that prohibits slips even with a wet surface.

Our platforms are the best quality and our Industrial platforms are built for years of daily use.

These Platforms have been examined, tested and certified by the following: E Access Co, Burrett & Assoc - Design Consultants, Materials, and Testing Laboratories Ltd. - Certification of Test no. 7534.1 and by BOGDONOV PAO Associates Ltd. - Structural Engineers. In addition, the platforms have been tested for over 5 years in the field.

Fabrication is carried out by certified welders. The high tensile extrusion aluminum and tread plate is of the highest grades and quality.

Structural Welding:
All the materials that are used in the manufacturing of the X-Deck Platform and its accessories, meet or exceed the specifications as stated by the American Institute of Steel Construction (1996 edition); also, all welding operations meet or exceed the specifications defined by the American Welding Society.

It is always recommended to check your Federal, State, and Local Codes on all ladder, platform or scaffolding use.

How high off the ground can i work off of The X-Deck by Safetec?

We are basically low-level scaffolding.

Our current largest platform is our 5-Step which puts your feet 5’11’’ off of the ground.

An average sized man can work on things up to 13.5 ft high, or about the height of an 18 wheeler.

We will have a 6-Step and a 7-Step platform available by April 2008. Each of these models adds 1 foot to the maximum height.

What makes the SafeTec platforms so sturdy you can walk to the end and it will not tip over?

Our platforms are so well designed that you can set up a 4 or 5 step platform to the highest setting and with no one or no weight on the platform and do pull-ups on the handrail.

Our platforms are designed so the base is larger than the deck you stand on. Imagine the platform as a pyramid. You can walk anywhere on the top of the platform and it will not tip over as long as the deck does not extend out past the base.

As long as you keep both feet on the platform you can work to the far corners with no fear, because the platform will not tip over.

How does the platform work on soft wet ground?

This is one of the best things about the SafeTec Platform. Our platform works better on uneven ground than any traditional ladder or scaffolding.

When you stand on a ladder in soft wet ground you quickly sink to the side on which you put your weight. This means you might have to readjust your ladder or scaffolding many times to make it workable.

Our platforms sink evenly into soft wet ground. Because;

1. The base is longer than the deck you stand on. Imagine it as kind of like a pyramid. When you stand on one side and look at which feet are gripping in more you will notice the feet on the opposite side gripping in more than the feet on your side.
2. All your weight goes the center access point and then the weight is divided up among your four feet.

Can I encircle a house or a vehicle?

YES! If you have 2 or more platforms you can connect them together with a connecting board. We have had companies encircle cars, tour buses, and houses.

The connecting boards can attach at any angle allowing you to go across, expand over, run beside, or encircle almost anything you can think of.

How does the platform work on uneven ground?

Our platforms are made to work on surfaces with up to a 10 degree pitch. If the surface has a slope greater than 10 degrees lower the platform thus extending the base.

You are safe to work on the platform as long as the deck does not extend out past the base.

Some prep work to the ground might need to be done in extreme circumstances and in different cases.

I can feel the platform flex when I jump on it.

The platform is not steel! Aluminum by nature is meant to flex a little. Because it is aluminum it is lightweight and can be easily moved around from one job site to the next. Our aluminum is of the best quality that we can buy. The platforms are built to hold either 1200 for the light weight models or 2000 lbs for the Pro Line Models.

SafeTec highly discourages jumping on the platform for safety reasons.

My steps are too narrow for me to walk up hands free.

We feel that our normal step version fit the needs of most of our customers , but if you have people requiring more step room, people wearing tool belts or people in firefighter gear we recommend the new “XL” Platform. The “XL” Platform is a longer step version of our 18” Pro Line Platforms.

We currently have available a longer step version of all our 18” Pro Line Platforms. This model is called the “XL” which adds 4” to the steps width.

I want a custom handrail or I want to modify the platform.

Yes, we can make a custom Handrail.  We have a variety of handrails available in our product line but if none of these are suitable for your needs please call our office with your specifications and a member of our sales team will assist you.

Custom platforms are available, but due to the reengineering necessary they are more expensive. We have made custom platforms for many different businesses and in some cases the platform was such a good idea that it is now apart of our product line.

Contact us for pricing and to determine if we can make a custom platform for your application.
